Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) stock rose Tuesday after the drugmaker reported better-than-expected second-quarter results and raised its fiscal 2026 revenue outlook while affirming its earnings guidance.

Pfizer Beats Estimates, Lifts Revenue Outlook

Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla said the company’s launched and acquired products continued to perform well, its obesity program is gaining momentum and its oncology portfolio remains a key strength.

Pfizer reported adjusted earnings of 77 cents per share, topping the Wall Street estimate of 69 cents.

Revenue increased 1% operationally to $15.03 billion, exceeding analysts’ expectations of $14.41 billion.

The operational revenue growth was driven by higher sales of Eliquis, Padcev, the Vyndaqel family and Lorbrena, partly offset by lower COVID-19 product revenue.

Excluding Comirnaty and Paxlovid, second-quarter revenue increased 5% operationally. Revenue from launched and acquired products rose 18% operationally.

Productivity Plan, Business Development In Focus

Pfizer said it expects an additional $2.5 billion in productivity savings from ongoing initiatives between 2027 and 2029.

The company said its acquisitions of Seagen, Metsera and Biohaven represent key growth opportunities. It continues to target the first regulatory approval from Metsera’s rare obesity portfolio in 2028.

Guidance

Pfizer affirmed its fiscal 2026 adjusted earnings guidance of $2.80 to $3.00 per share, compared with the analyst consensus estimate of $2.95.

The company raised its fiscal 2026 revenue guidance to a range of $60.5 billion to $62.5 billion from its previous outlook of $59.5 billion to $62.5 billion. The new range compares with the Wall Street estimate of $61.79 billion.

Incoming interim Chief Financial Officer Cecile Guegan said low COVID-19 incidence could continue to weigh on Paxlovid demand, while most Comirnaty sales are expected later in the year during the vaccination season.

Guegan said Pfizer expects to position the company for high-single-digit revenue growth toward the end of the decade through disciplined investment in research and development and commercialization of launched and acquired products.

PFE Price Action: Pfizer shares were up 2.14% at $25.56 at the time of publication on Tuesday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
