Vale (VALE) is partnering with ABB to expand the use of automation and AI to support safety, productivity and sustainability at iron ore operations in Brazil.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

An initial project increased productivity by 25% at Vale Conceicao II model plant in Itabira, Minas Gerais, ABB said Wednesday in a statement.

ABB served as consultant, systems integrator and technology provider for the Itabira project.
