ENEOS Holdings (TYO:5020) will acquire U.S. chemical producer TPC Holdings, with the transaction expected to close in October, subject to regulatory approvals, according to an Aug. 7 news release.

TPC is a major North American C4 chemicals producer, supplying products including butadiene, raffinate, 1-butene and polybutene.

Following the acquisition, the Japanese oil explorer said it will have the world's third-largest butadiene production capacity.
