US Stocks Mixed; Cardinal Health Shares Jump After Q4 Results

U.S. stocks traded mixed this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining more than 150 points on Tuesday.

Following the market opening Tuesday, the Dow traded up 0.33% to 54,155.51 while the NASDAQ fell 0.19% to 26,556.16. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.05% to 7,757.09.

Leading and Lagging Sectors

Industrials shares jumped by 1% on Tuesday.

In trading on Tuesday, communication services stocks fell by 1.1%.

Top Headline

Cardinal Health, Inc (NYSE:CAH) shares jumped around 8% after the company posted results for the fourth quarter.

The company posted adjusted earnings of $2.91 per share, beating market estimates of $2.42 per share. The company’s sales came in at $63.672 billion, missing expectations of $65.029 billion.

Equities Trading UP           

  • WF International Ltd (NASDAQ:WXM) shares shot up 169% to $10.74.
  • Shares of Planet Green Holdings Corp (NYSE:PLAG) got a boost, surging 103% to $1.15 after the company announced entry into commercial operations to source, market and distribute lactoferrin for Chinese market.
  • Global Engine Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:GLE) shares were also up, gaining 57% to $0.61 after the company announced a strategic collaboration agreement with Angkasa-X to develop Space-to-AI digital infrastructure platform in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Equities Trading DOWN

  • CleanCore Solutions Inc (NYSE:ZONE) shares dropped 52% to $0.17 after the company reported pricing of $100 million public offering.
  • Shares of KLX Energy Services Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:KLXE) were down 35% to $1.44 after the company reported worse-than-expected Q2 sales results and approved a $125 million backstopped rights offering.
  • Socket Mobile Inc (NASDAQ:SCKT) was down, falling 34% to $1.41. Socket Mobile shares jumped 452% on Monday after the company announced a North America distribution agreement with 3Eye Technologies for the company’s Apple-based scanning solutions.

CommoditiesIn commodity news, oil traded up 0.4% to $82.43 while gold traded up 0.6% at $4,447.70.

Silver traded down 0.3% to $65.070 on Tuesday, while copper rose 0.6% to $6.6585.

Euro zone

European shares were mostly higher today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 gained 0.2%, while Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.6% London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.1%, Germany’s DAX gained 0.2%, while France’s CAC 40 fell 0.1%.

Asia Pacific Markets

Asian markets closed lower on Tuesday, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index dipping 1.10%, China’s Shanghai Composite falling 0.82% and India’s BSE Sensex declining 0.49%.

Economics

The US NFIB small business optimism index rose to 99.8 in July from 97.4 in June and beating market estimates of 97.5.
