Hengyi Petrochemical's (SHE:000703) attributable profit surged 2,501%, or 26 times, to 5.90 billion yuan in the first half from 226.9 million yuan in the year-ago period, according to a Tuesday filing with the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Earnings per share at the petrochemical producer increased to 1.59 yuan from 0.07 yuan in the prior-year period.

Operating revenue grew 20% year over year to 67.3 billion yuan from about 56 billion yuan.

Shares slipped 2% during afternoon trading on Tuesday.
