U.S. Futures, European Stocks Mixed

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 was flat in morning trading. Nemetschek rose 9.3% and VZ Holding added 5.8%. On the other hand, Antofagasta slipped 3.8%, and KGHM Polska Miedz lost 2.7%. The FTSE 100 was flat. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France's CAC 40 was flat and Germany's DAX climbed 0.6%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.1% to 96.13.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 1.6% to $88.49 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 2% to $82.89 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 0.7% to 60.85 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 2 basis points to 3.173% from 3.15%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 2 basis points to 4.664% from 4.647%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 0.6%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 1%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite was flat.
