China's Yangtze Memory Technologies entered the world's top three in NAND memory shipments for the first time, according to a report from market tracker Counterpoint released Wednesday.

YMTC's market share reached 14%, nearly edging out Japan's Kioxia (TYO:285A), according to the report.

Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) is still the number one exporter of NAND devices with a 25% market share worldwide, followed by SK Hynix (KRX:000660) at second place with a 22% share, according to Counterpoint data.

Despite YMTC's surge, it came in fifth in terms of revenue, behind U.S.-listed Micron and Kioxia due to its product mix, Counterpoint said.
