Boeing (BA) and RTX (RTX) have signed framework agreements with the US Department of Defense to increase production of key components for SM-3 Block IB and Block IIA missile interceptors, the Pentagon said Friday.
The agreements will strengthen production of the ship-fired surface-to-air interceptors that underpin the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System and form the backbone of US sea-based missile defense.
The Department of Defense said production of both SM-3 variants will accelerate under the new frameworks, with Boeing driving component manufacturing.
