Alphabet (GOOGL) held 551.2 million shares of SpaceX (SPCX) valued at about $94.2 billion at the end of Q2, compared with the $900 million investment the Google parent disclosed it made in the rocket company in 2015, Reuters reported Friday.

Alphabet emerged as the largest disclosed institutional holder of SpaceX following the company's $86 billion initial public offering in June, according to the report.

At SpaceX's Wednesday closing price of $146.15, Alphabet's disclosed stake would be worth about $81.8 billion, still roughly 90 times the value of its original investment, Reuters added.

Alphabet and SpaceX didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
