Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Monday as investors awaited China's July activity data for clues on the strength of the world's second-largest economy.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.7%, or 186.56 points, to 25,303.41, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.9%, or 71.04 points, to 8,411.87.

Asian markets were mixed as investors weighed the risk of higher oil prices amid stalled efforts to end the Iran war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Investors are also awaiting China's July activity data and a week of U.S. economic releases and corporate earnings for clues on growth and the outlook for interest rates.
