President Donald Trump announced on August 18 the nomination of Courtney Coker to serve as a judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Coker, a federal prosecutor for nearly 20 years, currently serves as First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. He has prosecuted some of the toughest criminal cases in the country, including against cartels, foreign gangs, and drug and human traffickers. Coker is a graduate of Centre College, where he was captain of the football team, and Mississippi College School of Law.

Trump expressed confidence in Coker's ability to serve as a "strong defender of Law and Order on the Bench" and congratulated him, adding, "The people of Texas (I LOVE TEXAS!) are lucky to have such a strong defender of Law and Order on the Bench."
