UK inflation rose to 2.9% in the year to July, its highest level in four months, driven by higher household energy bills, BBC reported Wednesday.

Gas prices rose at their fastest pace in almost four years, while the household energy price cap increased 13% from July 1, adding 221 pounds a year to the typical bill, the report said.

Food inflation slowed to 1.3%, its lowest level in nearly five years, while experts said the latest inflation reading is unlikely to prompt the Bank of England to change its key interest rate at its September meeting, BBC reported.
