0852 GMT - Thailand's economy weakened sharply in 2Q, prompting Goldman Sachs analysts to nudge their forecast for 2026 GDP growth down to 1.8% from 1.9%. Domestic demand weakened meaningfully, driven by a decline in both private and public consumption, Chris Poh and Danny Suwanapruti write in a note. The drop in private consumption was notable, marking the first contraction since 3Q 2021, and was broad-based across services and goods. Private investment, which accounts for roughly two-thirds of total investment, remained resilient but that was offset by a sharp fall in public investment, GS said.
