Apple's EU App Developer Terms are 'Missed Opportunity,' Lobby Group Says

1158 GMT - Apple's proposed changes to its app developer terms in the EU are a missed opportunity, according to Coalition for App Fairness, a lobby group that counts Spotify and Epic Games as members. "We urge regulators to reconsider and ensure that the DMA delivers the meaningful choice and competition that European lawmakers intended," CAF says. On Tuesday, Apple proposed new fees, including a 5% commission rate for apps downloaded through alternative app stores or the web, a 15% fee for apps in its own App Store that link out to complete payments, and a 20% rate for those that use alternative payment processing, though some developers will see a lower 10% commission. According to lobby group, those fees are still too high. "Developers and consumers deserve an open mobile app ecosystem," it says.
