Treasury Yields Rise as Warsh Signals Inflation Concern

Dow Jones
08/28

Treasury yields are climbing after Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh expressed concern about the level of inflation in prepared remarks at the Kansas City Fed's Jackson Hole conference.

Yields on short-term Treasurys, which are particularly sensitive to changes in interest rates, led the gains. The yield on the 2-year note was recently 4.275% vs. 4.224% just before Warsh's remarks were released.

The yield on the 10-year note ticked up to 4.684% from 4.662%.

While some recent inflation "readings were better than expected, they do not tell me that underlying trends have meaningfully improved," Warsh said.
