Bank of Thailand governor, Vitai Ratanakorn, dampened expectations for an extended interest-rate pause, suggesting that policymakers are not committed to keep borrowing costs unchanged, hinting that the next move could go either way, Bloomberg report Thursday.

During an interview with a news organization as cited by Bloomberg, Ratanakorn said the central bank is not obliged to hold on to the interest rate for a long duration and decisions by the Monetary Policy committee will depend on data.

However, he added that bank does not have enough evidence to justify raising or lowering rates, the report said.
