Quintain Steel (TPE:2017) commissioned an 80MW/305 megawatt-hour grid-connected energy storage system, marking its expansion from steel manufacturing into smart energy.

The system, with a storage capacity of 305,000 kilo-watt-hour, can discharge at full capacity for at least three hours, according to the Tainan City Government.

It is currently Tainan's largest grid-connected energy storage project and is directly connected to Taiwan Power's grid.

The system will store electricity during off-peak periods and discharge during peak demand to help balance power supply and demand and improve grid stability.

Tainan's Economic Development Bureau said the project demonstrates traditional industries' investment in energy infrastructure amid the growth of semiconductor, AI and smart-manufacturing industries.
