Horizon Gold (ASX:HRN) said reverse circulation drilling at its Gum Creek gold project in Western Australia returned "significant" gold intercepts, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.

Reverse circulation drilling at the Howards prospect confirmed an 800-meter southern extension to known gold mineralization, including an intercept of 6 meters at 5.57 grams per tonne (g/t) grade of gold from 70 meters, the company said. It also encountered intercepts of 6 meters at 12.67 g/t grade of gold from 114 meters from Heron South and 21 meters at 2.14 g/t grade of gold from 24 meters at Melbourne Bitter.

The gold exploration company's shares rose nearly 3% in recent trading on Tuesday.
