China Merchants Energy Shipping's (SHA:601872) attributable profit jumped 227%, or nearly 3.3 times, to 6.96 billion yuan in the first half from 2.12 billion yuan in the year-ago period, according to a Monday filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Earnings per share at the shipping company increased to 0.86 yuan from 0.26 yuan in the prior-year period.

Operating revenue grew 56% year over year to 19.7 billion yuan from 12.6 billion yuan.

Directors declared a dividend of 0.13 yuan per share.

Company shares slid 3% during the midday break on Monday.
