Wall Street futures pointed moderately lower pre-bell Tuesday as higher interest rates and oil prices as well as fresh hostilities in the Persian Gulf undercut investor sentiments.

In the futures, the S&P 500 fell 0.6%, the Nasdaq declined 1% and the Dow Jones was off 0.6%.

Traders also await the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) for July, slated for a 10 am ET release in Washington, for clues to the health of the national labor market.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures traded up 2.3% to $87.71 a barrel in morning action.

The VanEck Semiconductor fund (SMH) was down 1.5% pre-bell.

Asian exchanges traded mixed overnight, as Japan's 10-year government bond yield touched 3% for the first time since 1996.

European bourses tracked moderately lower midday on the continent.

On the economic calendar, in addition to the JOLTs release, is the S&P Global final US purchasing managers index, or PMI, for August at 9:45 am ET, followed by the ISM Manufacturing Index for August, and the construction spending report for July, both at 10 am.

In premarket action, Bitcoin traded at $77,990, and 10-year US Treasuries offered 4.78%. Spot gold commanded $4,383 an ounce.
