Australia Dwelling Approvals Fall in July, Final ABS Data Shows

The total number of dwellings approved in Australia fell 3.6% to 17,687 in July, seasonally adjusted, from 18,351 in the previous month, according to final figures released Tuesday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

The final figures were unchanged from the preliminary data.

Private sector housing approvals fell 4.2% to 10,199 in July, while approvals for private sector dwellings excluding houses fell 0.4% to 7,119, according to the ABS data.

Meanwhile, the value of total non-residential building approvals rose over 14% to AU$9.93 billion, while the value of total residential building approvals fell 4.9% to AU$11.26 billion.
