Sun Silver (ASX:SS1) said drilling at its Maverick silver project in Nevada, US, intersected silver, gold, and antimony from the surface, supporting further assessment of additional shallow mineralization, according to a Tuesday filing with the Australian bourse.

The company said diamond drill hole MV0001 returned 16.8 meters at 20 grams per tonne grade of silver equivalent from zero meters, including 3.5 meters at 46 g/t from surface.

Antimony mineralization was also intersected close to surface at MV0001, with results including 6.1 meters at 0.06% antimony from 1.5 meters; 11.6 meters at 0.06% antimony from 25 meters; and 20.6 meters at 0.06% antimony from 205.4 meters, per the filing.

"Should these from-surface results continue, they could open the door to reduced pre-strip and earlier processing feed, which would provide a compelling advantage in the development of a large-scale open-pit operation," said Sun Silver Managing Director Andrew Dornan.
