Palantir Technologies (PLTR) and Voyager Technologies-backed (VOYG) Starlab Space and the Center for Space and Aviation Switzerland and Liechtenstein are calling for proposals for advanced microgravity research and commercialization aboard the International Space Station, the organizations said Friday.

The initiative is meant to provide researchers with funded access to microgravity research opportunities, with up to four proposals to be selected, to generate data that can advance space-based business models, the organizations said.

Eligible research areas include microorganisms, mammalian cells and tissues, viruses and bacteria, protein crystal growth, fluid dynamics and mixing, biomaterials, and plant research, the organizations said.

Other Starlab Space joint venture backers include Airbus, Mitsubishi, MDA Space, and Space Applications Services.
