China's Consumer Prices Poised to Settle in Low, Positive Range

0429 GMT - China's latest inflation data shows a clear sector-by-sector split, mirroring the broader economy's uneven momentum, ING's Lynn Song says in a note. Inflation rebounded in August after July's surprisingly low read. Consumer prices remain under pressure with food (accounting for 30% of the CPI basket) and housing (accounting for 22%), acting as persistent drags on the index, Song notes. On the other side, higher tech input prices and energy prices are pushing the CPI higher. The economy still contains pockets of deflation, but consumer prices appear poised to settle into a low, positive range, Song says.
