BioCryst Pharmaceuticals Faces Competitive Pressure in Hereditary Angioedema Treatment, RBC Says

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals' (BCRX) Ordaleyo faces competitive pressure in the hereditary angioedema treatment space, and its shares are expected to settle within an in-line trading range in the near term, RBC Capital Markets said in a Thursday note.

Pharvaris' (PHVS) released stronger-than-expected data for deucrictibant XR, its competing oral agent for treating hereditary angioedema, and conversations with key opinion leaders revealed that more doctors may move patients from Ordaleyo to the rival offering than consensus numbers would imply, RBC analysts said.

The analysts said they see Ordaleyo likely continuing to grow in the near term, but now project Ordaleyo's long-term annual revenue to drop to a range of $400 million to $450 million from their previous estimate of $500 million to $550 million.

Meanwhile, the analysts said they are optimistic that BioCryst's long-acting injectable navenibart will drive a new phase of growth, clinical data is likely still a year away, and the launch of deucrictibant XR could limit how much the company's stock rises, even with quarterly beats.

RBC downgraded the company's stock rating to sector-perform from outperform and reduced the price target to $11 from $13.
