Deep Fission (FISN) said Thursday it has successfully installed and retrieved a full-size prototype nuclear reactor canister from a borehole using standard commercial drilling equipment, without the need for new technology or customized tools.

The demonstration advances the broader commercial validation program for its reactor project, with the next steps including drilling, system integration, regulatory approvals, and commercial operations, the company said.

Deep Fission shares were 1.1% higher in premarket trading.
