China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun pushed back against warnings on AI dangers, urging nations to pursue "open, inclusive, universally beneficial and ethical" AI development, Bloomberg News reported Monday.

Guo's comments came after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei urged moderating AI capability advances, a stance echoed by OpenAI's Sam Altman and Elon Musk, according to the report.

Guo told reporters that fearmongering and intense competition will only derail efforts to regulate global AI, Bloomberg wrote.

Earlier in the day, China-backed The Global Times questioned Amodei's motives for making such a call.
