Communications-services companies fell after analysts at brokerage Wells Fargo cut their ratings on Netflix.

Shares of the streaming service fell by 4.7%, bringing losses for the year-to-date to roughly 20% after the Wells Fargo analysts cited concerns about audience engagement and the second-half slate of content for their downgrade.

Rival Disney hired Karandeep Anand, the head of AI company Character.AI, to be its first ever chief technology officer, as Chief Executive Josh D'Amaro pushes the entertainment conglomerate deeper into digital territory.

President Trump said on Friday he is banning CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House over their coverage of his administration.
