Starbucks (SBUX) agreed to settle a discrimination lawsuit brought by Florida, pledging not to adopt race- or sex-based quotas or preferences in hiring, promotion and pay decisions, Reuters reported Thursday.

Under the settlement, Starbucks will pay $1 million to Florida's Department of Legal Affairs and submit annual compliance certifications for four years, the report said.

The company will also not participate in organizations that require increasing the racial diversity of its board, according to the report. A spokesperson for Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said the agreement applies nationwide.

Starbucks denied wrongdoing and said it would focus on offering jobs and career opportunities to its employees, Reuters reported.

Starbucks did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
