Amazon (AMZN)-backed Anthropic's allegations that DeepSeek and Moonshot AI routed sensitive user data to its Claude models have prompted a probe by China's internet regulator, The Information reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Cyberspace Administration of China summoned seven companies named in Anthropic's report before focusing on DeepSeek and Moonshot, whose executives and employees were interviewed by officials, the people said.

Anthropic alleged Moonshot routed more than 23 million exchanges to Claude between May and July and DeepSeek more than 12 million in July, without informing customers that their requests were processed by Anthropic, according to the report.

The probe is examining whether sensitive Chinese data was transferred to the US in violation of data-security rules, the report added.

Anthropic, DeepSeek and Moonshot did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
