Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI pushed the US to lead a global effort to set international technical standards for AI, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing a company blog post.

Standards are needed to help define the types of incidents involving AI models that should be reported, as well as how countries can work together on AI advancement, the report said.

OpenAI didn't immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
