The survey was conducted in June and July this year with over 350 family offices across 40 countries. Of the participants, 22% of them were from Apac.\nThe focus is complemented by \"strong interest\" in healthcare, robotics and software opportunities. Apac family offices also displayed the highest \"overall comfort\" with digital assets compared to their peers. About 50% of Apac family offices reported \"no significant barriers\" to digital asset adoption.\nApac family offices also saw the highest level of portfolio outperformance compared to their peers, with 26% of them achieving returns of above 15% year to date. Their targets are also the most ambitious: 22% of family offices in Apac are targeting annual returns of over 15%, nearly double the global average, possibly due to the strong performance of public equity markets in the region this year.\nFamily offices in the region were also found to be the most proactive among their peers in response to market volatility. Over half - 62% - adopted an active management approach while 49% have implemented hedging strategies. Both figures, says Citi, are \"significantly above\" global averages and suggest a greater sophistication in risk management.\nApac family offices posted the highest direct-investing participation rate globally at 79%, as well as demonstrated the strongest preference for having internal teams as the leading source of direct investment at 77%.\nOn the other hand, top concerns include the stability of the global financial system (53%) and market volatilty (52%).\n\"The 2026 survey findings point to a maturing family office landscape in Asia Pacific, characterized by entrepreneurial thinking, institutional-quality investment practices and a strong appetite for global connectivity,\" says Bernard Wai, head of Asia for integrated client solutions and global family office at Citi Wealth.\n\"Family offices across Asia Pacific have evolved to become increasingly sophisticated, requiring the talent, setup and governance for a sovereign wealth fund (SWF)-like investment mindset. Whether it is expanding into direct investing programmes, leveraging AI interfaces, or executing cross-border tax-aware transactions, family offices here are taking a more holistic approach to wealth stewardship.\"\nGlobally, the survey found that family offices performed well despite market volatility with 90% of participants reporting positive portfolio performance year to date. Of the group, 41% are continuing to target annual returns of 7% to 10%.\n\"Clients are optimistic but not complacent as moderate expectations for returns coexist with concerns around inflation, interest rates and financial stability. Long-term discipline remains a crucial competitive advantage,\" says Citi.\nDespite recent geopolitical developments, 40% of global family offices made \"no major changes\" while others remained focused on improving portfolio resilience.\nGlobal developed equities ranked as the most favoured asset class for future net allocations while private markets remained a strategic pillar.
