Dollar General's assortment of everyday, essential items will now be available for same-day delivery through Instacart.

The partnership, disclosed Wednesday, will initially launch over the coming weeks at about 7,000 Dollar General stores across six states. The companies said they have plans to scale the partnership to roughly 20,000 stores across the continental U.S. later this fall.

Through the partnership, customers will be able to shop Dollar General's assortment of products on Instacart--including food and snacks, household essentials, and health and beauty products--with delivery in as fast as one hour, the companies said.

Ryan Hamburger, chief commercial officer at Instacart, said Dollar General's sizable footprint and commitment to affordability make the company an important addition to the Instacart Marketplace.

Dollar General will join more than 2,200 national and local retail banners on the Instacart Marketplace, the companies said.
