Ecopetrol (EC) said Thursday its board has unanimously appointed Joaquin Gutierrez Caballero as its chief executive officer and principal legal representative, effective Monday.

Camilo Barco's appointment as interim CEO will conclude on Sunday, the company said.

Ecopetrol said Caballero's appointment was in accordance with its succession policy.
