The cybersecurity apparatus at the Bank of Korea is under the lens after the personal information of 186 bank employees was leaked in a security breach between May and June, The Korean Times reported Monday, citing the bank's data submitted to Rep. Lee Jong-wook.

In the latest breach, hackers gained access to the GitHub system, used by a contractor handling the bank's online training program, and leaked information, including employees' names, email addresses, phone numbers, positions, duties, and passwords.

The bank has reported 135 incidents of hacking in the first eight months of 2026 and is directed to review its security system and measures to prevent further attacks.
