OpenAI has paused training of its latest artificial intelligence models amid reports of AI agents going rouge, Associated Press reported over the weekend, citing a statement from the ChatGPT maker.

Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI said Friday that it was reviewing several incidents from summer in which its AI agents had interacted with US government websites in unexpected ways, the media outlet said.

The firm would resume training when it is confident that additional safeguards are in place and expects to hit pause again as AI develops and other issues arise, according to the report.

OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
