Singapore plans to support the local development and production of new mRNA influenza vaccines to enhance national preparedness for future pandemics, Health Minister Ong Ye Kung announced Thursday.

The Ministry of Health intends to work with medical research organizations like Hilleman Laboratories, which is headquartered in Singapore and has a local manufacturing facility, to develop new mRNA vaccines.

Besides Hilleman, Singapore is also working with companies with capabilities across vaccine platforms and manufacturing, including Sanofi, GSK, Moderna and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
