Nippon Steel's (TYO:5401) subsidiary, Nippon Steel Engineering, and Kanadevia have mutually agreed to terminate the Basic Memorandum of Understanding for their proposed business integration.

The companies determined they could not reach an agreement on the terms and conditions of the integration, leading to the cessation of all related discussions and deliberations, according to a Tokyo bourse filing on Tuesday.
