The Personal Income and Outlays report for August is due at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.
It includes the PCE price index, also known as the Fed's preferred measure of inflation. Here's what economists polled by The Wall Street Journal are expecting:
-- The PCE index is expected to have risen 3.7% over the past year, holding steady from July but remaining significantly above the Fed's 2% inflation target.
-- The core 12-month PCE inflation rate, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, is expected to come in at 3.3%, same as the prior month's.
