Stellantis-owned (STLA) Chrysler has had a regulatory probe closed after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, ended its preliminary evaluation of more than 1 million Jeep vehicles, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing the agency.
The NHTSA had been investigating reports of underhood fires occurring while the vehicles were in the ignition-off state, the media outlet added. Several fires appeared to originate near the power steering pump, it said.
Chrysler recalled nearly 1.08 million vehicles in June, expanding the recall to cover all 2021-2025 Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators manufactured between June 24, 2020, and Dec. 2, 2024, Reuters reported.
The NHTSA said the recall addressed the vehicles and conditions covered by the investigation.
Stellantis and NHTSA did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
