Tech stocks gained late Thursday afternoon with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rising 1.2% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) adding 1.1%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index climbed 1.6%.

In corporate news, Amazon.com-backed (AMZN) Anthropic may start formal marketing for its initial public offering as early as the week of Nov. 9, which would set it up to start trading before the US Thanksgiving holiday, Bloomberg reported. Amazon shares eased 0.2%.
