Alpha HPA (ASX:A4N) commissioned a new PerkinElmer NexION 5000 inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) at its Gladstone operations in Queensland to analyze impurities at ultra-trace levels and verify product purity, according to a Wednesday statement.
The instrument is currently being used to analyze Alpha HPA products for uranium and thorium. It has the capability to detect less than 0.2 parts per billion of uranium and thorium.
Its shares fell 11% in recent trading on Wednesday.
