Softer Crude, Renewed AI Optimism Lift Wall Street Pre-Bell; Asia, Europe Up

Wall Street futures pointed moderately higher pre-bell Friday on easing crude prices, and media reports that appeared to affirm rising demand for services of AI modelers.

In the futures, the S&P 500 rose 0.4%, the Nasdaq inclined 0.7% and the Dow Jones was steady.

Chip and AI infrastructure stocks were undergirded by a Bloomberg report Friday that OpenAI expects at least $70 billion in annualized revenue by year-end, an upswing from recent estimates.

Oil prices softened after President Donald Trump's Thursday social media post that the US would not attack Iran before the US midterm elections, and that "productive discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran" were underway.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil traded down 0.7% at $90.89 a barrel, and 10-year US Treasuries offered 5.25% in pre-bell moves.

The VanEck Semiconductor fund (SMH) rose 1.5% pre-bell.

Asian exchanges traded mostly higher overnight in holiday-thinned trading, while European bourses tracked north midday on the continent.

Delta Air Lines (DAL) fell 2.8% pre-bell after the carrier reported Q3 earnings below expectations and cut guidance, citing higher fuel bills, in morning hours.

On the economic calendar is the University of Michigan consumer sentiment bulletin for October at 10 am ET, followed by the Baker Hughes domestic oil-and-gas rig count at 1 pm.

In premarket action, Bitcoin traded at $82,586, while spot gold commanded $4,183 an ounce.
