JinkoSolar (JKS) said Friday that its name change to Jinko took effect following shareholder approval at the annual general meeting on Wednesday.

The company's American depositary shares will start trading under the new name on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday, with the ticker symbol of JKS.

The company said its new name reflects the company's evolution into a holding company with a controlling interest in Jinko Solar.
