Recently, the first "Pang-style" supermarket in Xicheng District - the renovated Wumei Supermarket at Xinjiekou - celebrated its grand reopening. The store attracted massive crowds on its opening day, with foot traffic exceeding 10,000 visitors. This renovation represents more than just a simple upgrade, encompassing comprehensive improvements to the environment, merchandise, services, and employee benefits.

Upon entering the Wumei Supermarket at Xinjiekou, customers immediately notice the bright and spacious layout. The main aisle has been widened to 4 meters to accommodate multiple shopping carts simultaneously, while shelf heights have been adjusted to 1.6 meters. Many customers praised the clear zone navigation, orderly shelf arrangements, and softer lighting, making the "new Wumei" more enjoyable to shop in.

The centerpiece of the supermarket is its fresh food preparation area. Store staff explained that the renovated store's product structure now resembles 80% of Pangdonglai's merchandise mix. Among the store's 11,000 products, renewed items account for 70%, with the deli and bakery sections serving as highlight areas featuring nearly 600 new products. The proportion of freshly made and sold items has significantly increased.

To better cater to Beijing residents' tastes, the Xinjiekou store has incorporated successful experiences and popular products from four other Wumei "Pang-style" stores in Beijing, launching multiple Beijing-flavored specialty items. Traditional Beijing delicacies such as garlic sausage, pine nut belly, hot braised sausage, and freshly made soy milk and tofu are prepared and sold daily.

The produce section features fresh vegetables and fruits, neatly arranged meat counters, and live seafood that's caught and prepared on-site. Clear cooking guides, selection tips, and freshness indicators are prominently displayed. The store has also established a food safety testing room that publicly posts daily pesticide residue test results.

Wumei maintains a "same-day clearance" policy for fresh products, never carrying items overnight. Fruit cuts begin clearance at 20% off four hours after preparation, 40% off after six hours, and are removed from shelves after eight hours. Liu, a resident from a nearby community, expressed particular satisfaction with this policy, noting that she can find fresh, affordable produce at clearance prices when shopping after work, achieving both quality and value.

Notably, the renovated Wumei Xinjiekou store features a dedicated light meal and salad section, along with various healthy lifestyle products including Norwegian salmon, guava and acai berry mixed fruit juice, high-protein lunch meat, and low-calorie wagyu beef crispy snacks. These products span beverages, fresh foods, and casual snacks, fully meeting the diverse needs of urban customers, particularly young professionals, for healthy, convenient, and quality living.

The customer service area near the exit serves as a "treasure trove of functions," offering power bank rentals, free cooling beverages, emergency medical kits, blood pressure monitors, and even pet storage lockers. Many customers praised these services, saying "This service really touches our hearts."

While customers eagerly explore the store, employees appear energetic and proactively assist with customer needs. The "Pang-style" renovation extends beyond store upgrades to include employee benefits. Staff salaries have increased to over 1.5 times their original wages, and employees who complete one year of service receive 10 days of annual leave. More motivated employees naturally create happier shopping experiences for customers.

The Wumei Xinjiekou store attracted over 10,000 visitors on its opening day, with residents from surrounding areas of Xicheng flocking to experience the renovated store. Wumei Supermarket has transformed from merely a shopping destination into a new landmark where residents and neighbors can relax and enjoy life.
