On January 16, news emerged that Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd.'s (CATL) Yibin base has been designated as a "Sustainable" Lighthouse by the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Lighthouse Network. This recognition makes it the lithium battery industry's first "Sustainable" Lighthouse and the sector's sole facility to hold dual certifications for both production efficiency and sustainability.

By deploying AI-driven energy management systems, constructing photovoltaic and energy storage microgrids, and advancing process innovations alongside low-carbon product design, the base has achieved a 56% reduction in its carbon footprint. Furthermore, it has facilitated carbon neutrality certification for 13 of its core suppliers.

The Global Lighthouse Network, a collaborative initiative of the World Economic Forum and management consultancy McKinsey & Company, serves as an industry benchmark for Industry 4.0 and sustainable development. Prior to this "Sustainable" Lighthouse certification, CATL already had three of its bases recognized as "Production Efficiency" Lighthouses. Following this latest accolade, CATL now operates the highest number of "Lighthouse Factories" within the global lithium battery industry.
