NIO Achieves Record Weekly Deliveries of 10,600 Units, ES8 Wait Time Extends to 3 Months Amid Hiring Spree and Shift Expansion

NIO has intensified recruitment efforts to meet surging production demand, with interviews reportedly being conducted in canteens due to overcrowded offices. Internal messages suggest the company is competing with tech giants like Apple for talent.

To address capacity constraints, NIO has implemented double shifts, expanded shuttle services, and added night shifts. A regional manager confirmed the measures, attributing the demand spike to maturing consumer preference for premium large-sized electric SUVs. The current delivery lead time for the ES8 model is approximately three months, with some customers noting minor fluctuations in wait times—indicating NIO’s efforts to accelerate fulfillment.

Industry blogger @SunShaoJun09 revealed that NIO delivered over 10,600 vehicles between October 13–19, marking its first-ever weekly breakthrough of 10,000 units. Flagship SUVs drove the milestone, with NIO-branded models accounting for more than 4,000 deliveries.

In an internal address on October 25, founder William Li hailed the strong sales of the new ES8 and the upcoming L90 model as a "turning point," crediting technological advancements and superior cargo space for enhancing user convenience.

Despite a decade of losses—unlike profitable peers Li Auto and Leapmotor—NIO’s heavy R&D investments, battery-swap infrastructure, and in-house chip/OS development now appear to be paying off. The ES8’s dynamic delivery adjustments and improved frunk utilization underscore both customer approval and NIO’s growing edge in the premium EV segment.

As hiring and shift expansions continue, NIO faces the dual challenge of sustaining delivery momentum and proving its next model can replicate this success. The industry watches closely to see how its progress will reshape the high-end EV market.
