Guangxi Focuses on Smart Agricultural Machinery to Boost China-ASEAN Cooperation

On November 7, Wei Bo, Deputy Director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, stated that Guangxi will prioritize smart agricultural machinery, regional collaboration, and trade to enhance agricultural mechanization cooperation between China and ASEAN.

From November 6 to 9, the 2025 Guangxi International Agricultural Expo—Agricultural Mechanization Exhibition was held in Nanning, alongside the 2025 China Hilly and Mountainous Agricultural Machinery Expo and the 2025 China-ASEAN Agricultural Mechanization Cooperation and Development Forum.

Organized by Guangxi’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department and Agricultural Mechanization Service Center, and hosted by the Guangxi Agricultural Mechanization Association, the event aimed to create an integrated platform for exhibitions, high-level forums, technical exchanges, product promotions, and supply-demand matchmaking. This initiative seeks to foster a "cluster effect" and inject new momentum into regional agricultural modernization and rural revitalization.

In his speech, Wei Bo emphasized that the event, themed "Exploring New Frontiers of Intelligence, Creating New Opportunities for Development," will deepen China-ASEAN collaboration in smart and green agricultural machinery R&D, innovation promotion, and trade, facilitating machinery trade and standard alignment.

Fan Xuemin, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Mechanization Management Department under China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, noted that China’s agricultural machinery manufacturing has steadily improved, with growing equipment inventories and operational efficiency. Since 2025, China-ASEAN cooperation in agricultural machinery manufacturing has strengthened, with bilateral trade volumes rising consistently.

Li Weiguo, President of the China Agricultural Mechanization Association, highlighted the vast potential for China-ASEAN cooperation in agricultural machinery. He expressed willingness to collaborate with ASEAN institutions, enterprises, and experts to drive technological innovation, expand markets, establish standards, and share development achievements, fostering a sustainable agricultural machinery ecosystem.

Li Fengyun, Director of Guangxi’s Agricultural Mechanization Service Center, delivered a keynote speech on enhancing sugarcane mechanized harvesting to safeguard national sugar supply. She stated that Guangxi is advancing AI-powered sugarcane harvesting through smart equipment R&D. Moving forward, Guangxi will continue hosting agricultural machinery expos, promoting smart farming practices, and working with ASEAN nations to strengthen the sugar industry.

The 2025 Guangxi International Agricultural Expo—Agricultural Mechanization Exhibition featured over 150 exhibitors showcasing 1,300 advanced digital and intelligent agricultural machines. Innovations such as agricultural robots and unmanned farming systems demonstrated the future of "smart agriculture."
