With the WTT China Grand Slam 2025 opening at Shougang Park in Shijingshan District, investigations reveal that hotels in the surrounding area are fully booked on certain dates during the Grand Slam period, with some hotels launching themed rooms and exhibition halls.
Visits to chain hotels near Shougang Park, including Jinjiang Inn, Ji Hotel, and Home Inn, show that rooms are extremely scarce, with some dates completely sold out. Jinjiang Inn Beijing Pingguoyuan branch is fully booked from October 2-3. Other hotels around Shougang Park show single-day prices from October 1-5 that are double those of October 6.
"There are table tennis events during the first few days of the October 1 holiday, and many guests came specifically for this purpose. During the event period, few rooms remain available, so the price difference is significant," said staff from multiple hotels, adding that some guests made reservations as early as last year.
"During the National Day holiday when everyone is off work, hotels within Shougang Park are quite difficult to book. With experience from attending WTT events last year, I chose to stay at a hotel in Mentougou District, about 5 kilometers from Shougang Park, which can be reached directly via the S1 line," said Ms. Chen from Shanghai.
Like Ms. Chen, many fans have made advance preparations. Benefiting from the convenient transportation around Shougang Park, numerous fans have shared online their booking records for hotels near S1 line Shangancun Station, Line 6 Pingguoyuan Station, and Line 1 Gucheng and Bajiao stations.
Additionally, many hotels have made related arrangements. In the first-floor lobby of Beijing Wanshang Garden Mercure Hotel, a special 2025 WTT Grand Slam themed exhibition hall has been established, displaying precious hand molds and signed T-shirts and rackets from world champions including Sun Yingsha, Wang Chuqin, Lin Shidong, Chen Xingtong, and Moregard for fans to visit.
"To welcome the WTT Grand Slam event, we have also set up 120 themed rooms in standard rooms on floors 3-6. The welcome cards and card holders in the rooms all feature related elements, and we have decorated the rooms with ornaments made from discarded table tennis balls. The related decorations will be completed before October 1," a hotel representative told reporters, adding that guests can request themed rooms by phone or choose them when checking in on-site.
"Currently, rooms from October 1-3 are basically fully booked," the representative said.
