During the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Belém, Brazil, a dialogue was conducted with Renan Antoniolli, Director of Smart Industry & Commercial at Tuya Inc. in Latin America.

At the conference, Tuya Inc. became one of the first global strategic partners of the UN Climate Solutions (Digital) Platform. This platform enables stakeholders to share, validate, and scale replicable climate solutions, accelerating the implementation of the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Renan highlighted that AI+IoT is emerging as a key driver for digitalization and decarbonization across Latin America. He explained that Tuya’s AI and IoT platform can monitor building space usage in real time, automatically adjusting air conditioning, lighting, and appliance operations via human presence sensors, reducing overall energy consumption by up to 30%. "Smart technology not only enhances efficiency but also makes energy conservation an actionable practice for every household and business," he said.

In Brazil, Tuya partnered with smart home company Hometree to develop an AI-powered whole-home solution focused on energy efficiency. By leveraging Tuya-enabled AI hardware and optimized algorithms, the system achieves automated lighting control, remote power management, and energy monitoring, significantly cutting unnecessary energy waste. Additionally, WEG, a leading Brazilian energy equipment manufacturer, collaborated with Tuya to redefine low-carbon, high-quality living experiences through a customized app for smart home control and energy management.

As a Brazilian industry leader, Renan emphasized the strategic significance of hosting COP30 locally. "Brazil is proud to welcome this global climate event. It provides a stage for companies worldwide to showcase solutions while deepening our understanding of Latin America’s real demand for green technologies."

Regarding China-Brazil tech collaboration, Renan noted, "Technology is the foundation of all future industries. China’s expertise in AI and IoT, combined with Brazil’s strengths in resources, market, and application scenarios, creates powerful synergies."

With COP30 accelerating the integration of global climate governance and low-carbon technologies, Tuya Inc. plans to expand its presence in Brazil and Latin America, helping more businesses transition to a "smart-efficient-low-carbon" development model.
